#7 – Swallow Tail

Swallow Tail Knitting Pattern - 100babysweaterpatterns.com

I want to knit this!

One of my absolute favorite motifs is the diving swallow. (I even have them tattooed on my feet.) I will never get tired of it, so even if its cliche to put birds on things these days… I still love them. I knew I was gonna design at least one sweater with little birds. Here is a traditional looking yoked sweater that is knit seamlessly from the bottom up and then steeked down the center back to create a discreet button closure that still allows you to get the sweater over a baby’s head.

I love stranded knitting, it is continually one of my favorite things to do with knitting because it produces such pretty results and I can still knit at a good steady pace when I’m doing it. The same thing is pretty true with lace, once I get the hang of the patterns. I love the way cables look but whenever I knit them I end up going so slooow compared to my usual pace, which is pretty fast. This sweater was fun to work on because I’ve never actually done a circular yoke before, it’s super easy and looks so great. Love it.
